Germer & Checkley Named to All-SSC Softball Teams

2021 SSC ALL-CONFERENCE

MELBOURNE, Fla. - On Friday, the Sunshine State Conference announced their All-SSC Softball teams which include BarryU seniors Payton Germer and Taylor Checkley. In total, 28 student-athletes from nine member institutions are recognized on the All-SSC softball teams. Voting for the All-SSC softball awards was conducted among the league's head coaches.

Germer caught all 25 games for the Buccaneers this season and managed a young pitching staff that posted a 2.94 team ERA, improving from last years team ERA of 3.78. Germer finished the year hitting .262 and led the team in doubles (8) and tied for the lied in walks (7). The Winter Springs product finished the season hitting over .600 in her last four games. 

Checkley was another key contributor to the Bucs both offensively and defensively leading the team in hits (20), stolen bases (14) and on-base percentage (.386). The center fielders range robbed opponents from extra-base hits frequently and committed just one error in 23 games played.
