MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University men's basketball coach Butch Estes announced the signing of Malik Stanley on Tuesday. The 6-0 guard is the third member of the 2021 signing class for the Buccaneers.

"He was recommended to us by a friend in Indiana. Coach Arias from our staff led the way in Malik's recruitment," Coach Estes said. "He's a combo guard with great athleticism and a special ability to score the basketball. Like most Indiana players, he has a really high basketball IQ and should come in as a freshman who can challenge for playing time. With that being said, it is a unique year with everyone returning, but he definitely provides depth for us and we hope to see him leading our back-court for years to come," Estes added. "He brings a culture that matches our culture. he will do whatever it takes to win and will put the team first and individual accolades second.

Stanley is a 6-foot, 170-pound guard that comes from Indiana power-house Warren Central High School. The incoming freshman had quite the high school career, leaving the Warriors as the program's all-time winningest player with an outstanding 91-15 record. He also became just the third player in school history to reach 1,000 points. Stanley has been ranked as high as 19th among the class of 2021 for players in the state of Indiana.

"I chose to sign with Barry because it was a good fit for me right away," Stanley said. "I also felt very comfortable around the coaching staff and players during my visit," Stanley added.
