ROME, Ga. -- Deniz Khazan became the first Barry woman since Sonja Larsen in 2017 to win the ITA DII singles title after knocking off Mae Canete of Central Oklahoma 6-2, 6-4 at the ITA Cup at the Rome Tennis Center on Sunday, Oct. 17.
Kim Moosbacher and Daniela Farfan came up just one win short of capturing the doubles title but fell to the Canete sisters, Mae and Christine, from UCO 6-1, 6-3.
Khazan joins Larsen and Emanuel Fraitzl (2010) as national team winners and individual singles winners in the same calendar year.
