MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University men's basketball coach Butch Estes announced the signing of Duncan Alevok on Monday. The 6-10 forward is the first member of the 2021 signing class for the Buccaneers.

"We heard about Duncan during the AAU circuit this summer. Luckily, a member of our staff had a connection with the family and right from the start we were really impressed with his length and ability to run the floor," Estes said. "He has a nice touch around the basket and protects the rim. Coach Oliver is going to do a great job with that group of kids at U-School and Duncan's game is going to improve tremendously." Several Division I programs showed interest in the high school senior such as; FAU, IUPUI, Westpoint, Georgia State and McNeese State. "We felt that if we didn't get him early, we would lose him to division one," Estes added.

Alevok is a 6-foot-10, 200-pound forward that has been playing varsity since the eighth grade at Admiral Farragut Academy in St. Petersburg, Fla. In the off-season, Alevok transferred to local powerhouse University School in Davie, Fla for his senior season after leading the Admirals to a SSAC Independent Championship while averaging 12 points, eight rebounds, and five blocks as a junior. U-School has been home to several top division one talents in recent years, such as Vernon Carey, Jr (Duke), Scottie Barnes (FSU) and Jace Howard (Michigan).

"I chose to sign with Barry because of the reputation that Coach Estes and the coaching staff has with developing players and getting them to play professionally," Alevok said. "I also really like the environment on campus and the location of the school," Alevok added.
