MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry Buccaneers travel to Americus, Ga., to take on the Hurricanes of Georgia Southwestern State to open the 2020 season this weekend in a three-game series at Hurricane Stadium.
The Bucs are ranked 10th in the NCBWA pre-season poll after finishing 29-17, and 15-13 in the Sunshine State Conference, a year ago. The Hurricanes were 23-30 last season, 14-16 in the Peachbelt Conference.
Barry is led by a number of pre-season All-Americans. Outfielders Chris Cabrera and Andrew Rapoza and infielders Freddie Matos and Willie Escala were all included on the NCBWA watch list for the season.
Tucker Smith, the 2019 PBC Pitcher of the Year, is the top player for the Hurricanes.
