MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University men's basketball coach Butch Estes announced the signing of Jake Kakar, an NCAA Division II transfer from Barton College.
"When we began recruiting this year, we were looking for someone who could help boost our perimeter play and there is no doubt that we found that with Jake," Estes said. "Jake comes to us as an experienced player with a lot of confidence and a very high basketball IQ. I think he will be a wonderful compliment to our returning group of players," Estes added.
Kakar, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound forward from Boston, Massachusetts spent two seasons with the Bulldogs in Wilson, North Carolina playing in 55 games with 11 starts. He will have two years of eligibility with the Bucs. The Boston native helped the Bulldogs to a 22-8 record last season and led the team in scoring (14.3 ppg) earning him a spot on the 2018-19 All-Conference Carolinas Second Team. He made 87 three-pointers last year, setting a new school single-season record. The sharp-shooter was one of the best in all of division two, shooting 43 percent beyond-the-arc, good enough for 22nd nationally. On December 19th, Kakar set a pair of career highs scoring 29 points and connecting on eight threes during a 91-87 defeat against Tusculum.
