MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University men's basketball coach Butch Estes announced the signing of Raivis Scerbinskis, an NCAA Division I transfer from Winthrop University.

"We are excited about having a young man with his experience, size and shooting touch," Estes said. "We look forward to supporting his growth as a player and we're very excited about his future."

Scerbinskis, a 6-foot-8, 215-pound forward from Riga, Latvia spent three seasons with the Eagles, but will have two years of eligibility with the Bucs after red-shirting his freshman season in Rock Hill, South Carolina. The Latvian forward is a proven shooter from behind-the-arc after connecting on 43 percent of his three-pointers as a sophomore. He scored a career-high 20 points against Warren Wilson College on November 24th on 6-for-9 shooting from three. Scerbinskis led the Eagles in scoring in a 116-76 victory while pulling down six rebounds for Winthrop. Prior to signing with Winthrop he played for Jugla of the LBL4 and averaged 9.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.1 steals per game while shooting 48 percent from the floor and 87 percent from the foul line in 2015-16.
