WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Barry Buccaneers climbed one more spot from fifth to fourth in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association South Region Poll.
The Bucs have now won nine in a row and 16 of 17 to sit at 19-4 and 9-3 in the Sunshine State Conference. The Bucs are out in front of the SSC, after having been picked 10th of 11 in the preseason poll.
Tampa, who is third in the SSC at 6-3, ascended to the top of the region with a 20-5 record. Previous number one Delta State dropped to second in the record at 19-4. Gulf South Conference leader West Florida is third at 18-8. After Barry, Nova Southeastern clocks in at number five at 17-7 and 8-4 in the SSC.
The Bucs, who have played the last 12 games in the friendly confines of Feinbloom Field, play their first game on the road since Feb. 23 whe they visit the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish on Wednesday, Mar. 20.
