Basketball Hosts Arch-Rival Knights Tonight

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—Both the men's and women's basketball teams will host Lynn on Wednesday in another Sunshine State Conference showdown. The women's game starts at 5:30 pm and the men follow at 7:30 pm.

Women's Basketball - Wednesday, Feb. 27; 5:30 pm; Cesar Odio Court in the Health & Sports Center

The Bucs (9-17, 6-12 SSC) are coming off an 85-60 loss at Florida Southern on Saturday. Playing without leading scorer Nichel Tampa, Ida Andersson led the team with 121 points, Emma Hergot had 11 and Junae Richardson had 10.

The Knights (14-10, 8-10 SSC) won 50-49 at Florida Tech on Saturday, behind 18 points by Loie Webb. Uloma Enyogasi added 13 points and a team-best six rebounds off the bench.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Barry leads 31-20 in the all-time series, including 18-8 in the Health & Sports Center.
  • The Bucs won the previous meeting this year in Boca Raton 90-89 in overtime. Andersson and Tampa each scored 23 points, while Richarson came off the bench with 14. Kevyn McKae led six Knights in double figures with 20.
 

Men's Basketball - Wednesday, Feb. 27; 7:30 pm; Cesar Odio Court in the Health & Sports Center

The men (15-10, 10-8 SSC) are coming off a huge win 91-82 over #23 Florida Southern on Saturday. Tylan Birts led the Bucs with 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting. Evan Walshe added 14, Isaiah Hobbs had 13 and Marcelo Perez had 12 points. The Bucs out-shot the Mocs 55.9 percent to 38.4 percent. 

The Knights (21-4, 14-3 SSC) beat Florida Tech in overtime on Saturday 76-71. Jamal Palmer had 25 points to lead the Knights. Ryan Peterson added 17 points, hitting 5-of-7 from three-point range. Michael Baez had 16 and Darius Moore 10 points.

  • Barry leads the all-time series 29-27.
  • The Knights captured a narrow 72-71 win in Boca Raton earlier this season when Parker hit a shot at the buzzer.  Johannes Dolven scored a career-high 22 points, while Mortensen and Sheffield had 13 and 12 respectively. Baez led Lynn with 24 and Palmer added 18.
