LAKELAND, Fla. -- The Buccaneers women's tennis team took another step towards grabbing a trophy at the ITA Regionals today. Carolin Schmidt lost her semifinals match in the singles bracket, but Zuza Maciejewska and Verena Schmid advances to the tournament's doubles championship.

THE MATCHUPS

The ITA regional feature several NCAA DII schools including SSC opponents Nova Southeastern, Rollins, Saint Leo, Embry-Riddle, Lynn, Florida Southern, Florida Tech and Palm Beach Atlantic.

SUMMARY:

• Singles
  • Schmidt battled valiantly but fell in two sets to third-seeded Ana Navas from Nova Southeastern 6-4, 6-3.
• Doubles
  • Top-seeded Schmid and Maciejewska turned in another excellent performance in Lakeland, taking down Nova Southeastern's Daniela Obando and Ana Navas by a 8-6 margin to advance into tomorrow's final against fourth-seeded Krystina Jurkova and Nina Furmaniak of Saint Leo. 

ON THE HORIZON:

ITA Regional play continues tomorrow with championship matches in both brackets. The winners advance to the ITA Small College Nationals.
