MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University's No. 1-ranked women's tennis team will host the NCAA Division II South Regional Saturday and Sunday at Buccaneer Tennis Center.
The Buccaneers (23-0) will play the winner of fourth-seeded Saint Leo and fifth-seeded Florida Southern at noon Sunday. The semifinal match is set for 10 a.m. Saturday.
"We are very excited to play in the South Regional and host it," Bucs 10-year coach
Avi Kigel said. "Both Saint Leo and Florida Southern are two very good teams, and we have to be ready to play our best. But we can't wait until Sunday to play our match."
Barry beat both Florida Southern and Saint Leo this season. Florida Southern beat Saint Leo, 5-4, in the regular season.
The Buccaneers, the defending national champions, are making their 27th NCAA Tournament appearance. Barry has won 12 region titles, including last year's sweep of Valdosta State.
