Adrian Gonzalez and
Elvar Fridriksson swept the final Sunshine State Conference men's basketball Player of the Week honors.
Gonzalez, a senior forward from Miami, was named the Player of the Week. Fridriksson, a junior from Njardvik, Iceland, earned the Defensive Player of the Week. Gonzalez collected the award for the third time this season. Fridriksson earned his third SSC weekly honor -- his first defensive award.
Gonzalez reached the 30-point plateau in both games last week. He scored 33 in the Bucs' 98-88 SSC regular season title-clinching win over Florida Southern. Gonzalez was 13 of 17 from the floor, including 5 of 5 from 3-point range. He went 12 of 15 to score 30 points in the win at Embry-Riddle in Saturday's regular season finale. Gonzalez also had seven rebounds and three assists in that game.
Fridriksson had a career-high three blocks, four steals and five defensive rebounds, while also scoring 27 points and distributing 10 assists in Barry's win over Florida Southern. He had a steal and five defensive boards, while scoring a career-high 37 points and dishing out nine assists in the road win over the Eagles.
Barry (21-5) will host Florida Tech (15-13) at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the SSC Tournament quarterfinals at the Health & Sports Center.
