MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Coach
Butch Estes quipped he hopes he's around to hit another century mark.
"I hope I'm around for 100 more," Estes said with a laugh.
Coming off his 100th win at Barry University in his five years as the No. 9/10-ranked men's basketball team's head coach, Estes will take the Buccaneers (7-1) to Indianapolis Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. matchup at the University of Indianapolis (7-3). The trip to Indiana will mark the homecoming of brothers
Kooper Glick and
Sawyer Glick, who hail from Columbus, Ind. They are certain to draw a hometown cheering section, as is forward
Daniel Mortensen, who is bringing a small contingent of fans from the Ohio area. Mortensen started his career at Wright State.
Estes' 100th win as Bucs coach came in double-overtime thrilling fashion as Barry beat Tampa on the road, 107-103 -- thanks to a buzzer beater by
Sawyer Glick that required a full-court pass from
Kooper Glick and catch and dump off from Mortensen.
"The entire experience at Barry has been so rewarding," Estes said. "Certainly, the success, but, more importantly, the caliber of young men we've been able to work with. The support staff, the administration and the assistant coaches have also been great to work with."
Barry is 2-3 against the Greyhounds all time. They last met in 2016 -- a 110-83 win in Miami Shores. In 2014, the Bucs lost to Indianapolis, 78-73, at home in a battle of Top 10 teams as part of the Cruzin Classic.Â
Indy's Ajay Lawton leads the Greyhounds in scoring at 17.2 points per game, while shooting 44 percent from 3-point range. He has not played since Nov. 22. Tate Hall is averaging 13.3 points and 4.2 rebounds. Eric Davidson is scoring 13.1 points and shooting 1.000 percent from the free throw line. He is 28-for-28 this year. Devin Dixon is averaging nine points and 4.5 rebounds.Â
Bucs point guard
Elvar Fridriksson is coming off a career-high 43 points in that double-overtime win at Tampa. He leads Barry in scoring at 21.5 points per game, and ranks eighth in the country with 7.1 assists per game.
Sawyer Glick is scoring 17.4 points per game, and is fifth in the nation at 4.25 three-point field goals per game.
Sunday Dech is scoring 14.8 points and grabbing 6.1 boards per game.
Johannes Dolven is averaging 11.6 points and 6.1 rebounds. Mortensen is averaging 11.4 points and seven rebounds per game.
"We first met these guys when they came down for the Cruzin Classic," Estes said. "We built a wonderful respect. Both of us thought it would be a great idea to continue this series. Both teams are in the national spotlight, and it's a great opportunity because of the exposure. It's one with national implications."
