INDIAN WELLS, Ca. --
Sonja Larsen lost her women's singles tennis match in the consolation bracket of the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, on Thursday at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING
"I really enjoyed this experience playing against the best players in the country," Larsen said.
"Sonja did an amazing job representing Barry these two days," assistant coach Steve Schram said. "She just came up short today after leading the third set 5-2 to a very good player from Baylor. We couldn't be more proud of her efforts and how she competed the past two days."
SUMMARY:
- Tennis' Sonja Larsen was defeated by Theresa Van Zyl, of Baylor, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2).
NOTEWORTHY:
- The German native snapped her 36th singles win-streak in the opening round of the championship.
- Larsen won the ITA Regional, as well as the Division II ITA Championships earlier this fall.
- She was the first Barry athlete to qualify and go to the ITA Fall National Championships as a women's singles player.
ON THE HORIZON:
Larsen concluded her fall season at the ITA Fall National Championships. The rest of the Buccaneers will continue play this weekend at the BarryU Invite, in the last tournament of the fall.
