MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry's men's basketball team will open Sunshine State Conference play at Eckerd 3 p.m. Saturday.
The Buccaneers (1-0) are coming off a 56-point win over St. Thomas on Wednesday to open the season. Three Bucs scored in double figures, and Barry shot 59 percent from the field. All 12 Bucs who suited up scored in the season opener. Barry's 121 points is the third most in a Division II game this season. West Liberty is averaging 123 through its first three games.
Eckerd (3-0, 1-0 SSC) is off to a hot start. The Tritons held Tampa to 49 points Wednesday in a road game. Drushaun McLaurn is averaging 14.7 points and seven rebounds, while shooting 55.6 percent from the field. Keshawn Ingram is averaging 10.7 points and six boards. Trevon Young is averaging 9.7 points and nine rebounds.
Barry won three meetings against the Tritons last season -- two which were decided by two possessions or less. The Bucs survived a double overtime game at the McArthur Center last season.
This is Eckerd's first home game of the season.
TIP-INS: Barry is 28-44 all time against Eckerd ... The Bucs are 10-18 in St. Petersburg.
