ROME, Ga. -- Barry women's tennis' senior
Sonja Larsen was victorious in the opening round of the Oracle Cup Thursday, qualifying for the semifinals on Friday at Berry College.
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING:
"You can never count Sonja out of any match, and today she was able to pull through against a very good player from Mercyhurst College," assistant coach Steve Schram said. "After losing the first set, Sonja stepped up her game and competed at a high level. Her grit and determination helped her seal the deal."
SUMMARY:
- Senior Sonja Larsen defeated Saoia Gomez de Segura, of Mercyhurst, 3-6, 6-1, 7-5, to advance to the semifinals.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Larsen is now undefeated in her last 34 singles matches, dating back to last spring.
ON THE HORIZON:
Larsen will represent Barry in the semifinal round of singles on Friday at 11 a.m.
