MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The NCAA Division II sixth-ranked Barry Buccaneers knocked off the second-ranked junior college squad from State College of Florida, Manatee 7-2 on Saturday at the Buccaneer Tennis Center.

"We have a great deal of depth in the team this season," assistant coach Steve Schramm said. "We feel like we are very strong at the bottom flights because there just isn't much drop off."

- #1 Doubles - Dasha Salnikova and Zuza Maciejewska knocked off the top-ranked JC team of Maria Medina and Iulia Sergheeva 8-4.
- #2 Doubles - Isabel Rapasarda Calvo and Verena Schmid made similarly short work of Mialiniaina Rakotondrazafy and Rhoda Tanui 8-3.
- #3 Doubles - Karina Goia and Sonja Larsen prevailed 8-3 over Maria Zubkova and Emily Noel at the bottom flight.

- #5 Singles - Maciejewska made it 4-0 Barry at number five with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Zubkova.
- #6 Singles - Ana Pain clinched the match with 6-1, 6-0 win over Noel at number six.
- #3 Singles - Larsen, ranked 22nd, knocked off the 22nd-ranked Tanui at number three 6-3, 6-0.
- #4 Singles - Goia continued her march back from missing last season with a 6-3, 6-2 win over 31st-ranked Rakotondrazafy.
- #2 Singles - 18th-ranked Salnikova dropped a third-set super tie-breaker to 16th-ranked Sergheeva at number two.
- #1 Singles - Schmid also fell in a super tie-breaker to the JC top-ranked Medina.
NOTEWORTHY:
- Goia was the only Buccaneer to win both singles matches in the Bucs' two exhibitions.
- Salnikova and Maciejewska, who won at #1 doubles, played #3 in the first exhibition against ASA.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Bucs open the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 4 against NCAA Division I Bethune-Cookman.
