Emma Onila beat the No. 2-ranked singles player in the country, but Barry University's No. 2 women's tennis team fell at No. 3 Saint Leo, 6-3, Saturday.
It was the Buccaneers first loss of the season, and the first since April 4, 2011 in conference matches. The Bucs (12-1, 4-1 SSC) have been shorthanded all season with two key injuries, and surrendered a point in this one due to retirement.
Ranked No. 17 in the South Region, Onila defeated No. 2 nationally-ranked Natalia Siedliska, 7-6 (8-6), 0-6, 6-2, at No. 1 singles. The win was Onila's 10th of the season and fifth in as many matches in Sunshine State Conference play. She is 10-1 overall this season, and 4-0 at No. 1 singles. It was her first match against a nationally-ranked opponent this season.
Barry's
Barbora Kijasova also won her match, beating Madeline Gauthier, 7-6 (7-3), 6-1, at No. 5 singles. Her win pulled the Bucs to within, 4-2, after Barry's 11th-ranked Zuza Maciejewksa retired after a set at No. 2 singles, and the Lions (15-1, 5-0) picked up another point at the No. 6 position.

Sonja Larsen beat Isabella Robbiani and Coralie Pesenti, 8-3, at No. 2 pairs.Â
Barry will play at No. 31 Embry-Riddle 11 a.m. Sunday in Daytona Beach, Florida.
