MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University women's tennis team will open the Sunshine State Conference Tournament 9 a.m. Thursday when it meets Florida Southern at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa. All matches during the weekend will be available via Live Stats.
The Buccaneers (15-2) earned the fourth seed in the tournament. Florida Southern (12-8) is the fifth seed. The winner will play top-seeded Saint Leo at 9 a.m. Friday in the semifinals. Barry, Nova Southeastern and Lynn all shared 6-2 league records this year.
Barry has won the last six SSC titles, and nine overall.
The No. 6-ranked Buccaneers are 4-2 against nationally-ranked opponents this season, and 9-2 against regionally-ranked opponents. Barry is 1-0 on a neutral court this season.
Sophomore
Sonja Larsen, the reigning SSC Player of the Week, has a 14-1 singles record. She is 14-3 with two different doubles partners.
Zuza Maciejewska is 12-1 in singles and 15-1 in doubles with three partners.
Emma Onila is 11-3 in singles and 16-1 in doubles with three partners.
Ana Pain has an 8-3 singles mark and 15-2 pairs record with two partners.
Barbora Kijasova is 7-3 in singles and 12-5 in doubles with five different playing partners.
Alisa Rudenko is 5-1 in singles and 4-0 in doubles with three partners.
Judith Bohnenkamp is 3-3 in singles and 9-4 in pairs play with three different partners.
