MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry baseball returns to Sunshine State Conference play this weekend as it takes on Saint Leo.
The Buccaneers head to Saint Leo looking to move up the SSC standings currently sitting in 8th place while SLU is 5th.Â
In last year's series, the Lions took two of three games from the Bucs.Â
This year's SLU squad stands at 22-15 overall and 5-7 in the conference. The Lions' last outings were a series win over Lynn, last weekend.Â
Threats at the plate for SLU include junior 1B Troy Sieber, team leader in BA with .415, home runs with 11 and RBI with 40, and junior outfielder Alex Mata, team leader in hits with 58 and doubles with 17.Â
On the mound, the Lions will look to starters such as Zach Whitaker, team leader in strikeouts with 47, Shane Height, team leader in ERA with 3.69 and opponent BA with .191.
Friday's night game is slated to begin at 6:00 PM, with Saturday's doubleheader starting at 1 PM.Â
