Barry goes 2-0 on West Coast swing

Box Score AZUSA, Calif. -- Barry University women's tennis team completed its West Coast trip with a 5-0 victory at Azusa Pacific Tuesday.

The No. 4 Buccaneers went 2-0 on the trip with Monday's match rained out. Barry improved to 5-0 this season, while the No. 13 Cougars dropped to 6-4.

Zuza Maciejewska and Emma Onila picked up the Bucs first point when they cruised to an 8-2 doubles win over Jackie Resler and Lilit Vardanyan at the No. 2 position. Barbora Kijasova and Judith Bohnenkamp defeated Valeriia Kashina and Kara Hinton, 8-3, at No. 3 to give the Bucs a 2-0 lead. Twentieth-ranked Ana Pain and Sonja Larsen completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win over Nataline Johnson and Lisa Schneider at No. 1.

Pain, who currently owns the No. 4 singles ranking in the country, bumped the Buccaneers lead to 4-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Kashina at the No. 3 position. Ranked 11th, Larsen beat Schneider, 6-3, 6-3, at No. 2 to wrap up Barry's win.

The other four matches were unfinished when Larsen clinched.

Barry returns home to play NCAA Division I Butler 11 a.m. Thursday.
