SAN DIEGO, Calif.—The fourth-ranked Barry Buccaneers defeated the ninth-ranked Hawai'i-Pacific Sharks 5-2 in women's tennis action at the UCSD Tennis Courts on Sunday.

The Bucs (4-0) took two of three doubles. Emma Onila and Zuza Maciejewska defeated Syna Kayser and Lorena Gheoroghe 8-6 at number two and Alisa Rudenko and Barbora Kijasova knocked off Oceane Adam and Julia Sauer 8-2 at number three. The Sharks took their only win at number one as fourth-ranked Kristyna Hancarova and Nicole Hoynaski beat #20-ranked Sonja Larsen and Ana Pain.

In singles, the Bucs took the one, two and four flights. Fifth-ranked Pain breezed by Adam 6-1, 6-2 at number four. Maciejewska knocked off #41 Hoynaski in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. At number one, #11 Larsen out-lasted #15 Hancarova 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 to clinch the win. The fifth and sixth flights went unfinished.

The Bucs will face the UC-San Diego Tritons on Monday.
