MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Coming off a series win over Eckerd in the opening weekend of Sunshine State Conference play, Barry baseball gets back at it Tuesday night as it takes on SSC provisional member, Palm Beach Atlantic in a regional matchup.
The Buccaneers shut down Eckerd in the first two games of the series, winning by a combined score of 11-1 before falling 4-3 in the third game.
PBA comes into Tuesday night 8-6 on the year, with their last action being a series win over St.Thomas, winning first two games 9-4, 10-9 before falling 2-1 in the final game.
The two schools are old foes, having played 70 games since 1986, with Barry leading the series 46-24. Last year, the teams played four times, with PBA taking the series three games to one.
Threats on the Sailfish roster include Kyle Simon, who leads the team with a .388 BA, three homeruns and 14 RBI, and Sean Visconti, who has a .382 BA, leads the team with 21 hits and is tied for second with 12 RBI.
On the mound, PBA could look to Dominic Monda, who leads the Sailfish with a 1.17 ERA in eight appearances, two saves and is second in strikeouts with 20. Eric Russell leads in strikeouts with 23.
