GAME NOTES
MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Over the years, this game has been decided by one possession time and again. It happened last year when the Bucs won by three in the Health & Sports Center.
Something always brings out the best in this competitive rivalry, which returns 7:30 p.m. Wednesday when Barry (5-0, 2-0 Sunshine State Conference) hosts Nova Southeastern (2-2, 1-1) following the women's game. The game will be broadcast on the
Buccaneer Broadcast Network. It will also be carried on the radio onÂ
AM-640.Â
Barry is shooting a lights-out 55 percent from the field, which leads the nation this season. The Buccaneers are coming off a game in which they shot 64.4 percent, which is the second highest in school history. Barry also leads the country in assists at 26.4 per game.Â
The Sharks are coming off a three-point win over Southern Connecticut, which was ranked No. 20 in the coaches poll. It was Nova's first win over a ranked opponent since beating Barry last February.Â
Barry is trying to match the 1990-91 team, which opened the season scoring 90 or more points in the first six games. That 1990-91 team scored over 100 points four times during that span. This year's Bucs team reached 100 for the first time in Saturday's win over Florida National in the Cesar Odio Thanksgiving Classic.
TIP-INS: Fans who bring canned goods and supplies for victims of the hurricane in Haiti will receive a raffle ticket for Universal Orlando tickets. The winner of the raffle ticket will be announced during Wednesday's game.
