MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—Barry baseball looked at Tuesday night's game against local opponent, St.Thomas as a chance to get back in the win column and to make up for a season-opening loss to the Bobcats back on February 4
th. However, clutch hitting by St.Thomas led to a 5-3 victory over Barry.
The Bobcats got out to an early lead off of a DH Cesar Ramirez sacrifice hit that brought 1B Eric Santamaria home in the top of the second.
St.Thomas added two more runs in the fourth off a sacrifice fly by catcher Steven Fischer that brought 3B Paul Chacin to home plate and a two-run homer by 2B Michael Centeno to make the score 4-0.
The Bucs answered in the bottom of the inning with a run scored by catcher
Ramon Valdez off a 3B
Kyle Pangallo double into right center and with CF Christian Khawley sacrifice fly bringing 1B
Chucky Lopez home.
Barry added to its tally with a 2B
Khalil Denson RBI single that brought in pinch-runner
Ross Thibeault in to make it a 4-3 ballgame.
However, the Bobcats would get the last laugh as Cesar Ramirez homered to give his team a 5-3 lead that they would hold onto for the rest of the game.
Seven Bucs had hits on the night with
Chucky Lopez leading the team with three. On the mound, Buccaneer pitchers combined for three strikeouts.

Jonathan Hernandez got the loss to put his record at 4-3, while STU starter Ben Ancheff got his first result of the year in the win.
The Bucs now stand at 15-20 and 3-9 in the SSC, while STU is now 32-12 and 13-7 in the Sun Conference.
Up next for Barry is a weekend series against SSC rival Eckerd with first pitch slated for 6 pm on April 10 in St.Petersburg.
