Bucs take on Ave Maria to finish home schedule

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—A long season is drawing down to a close for Barry baseball and before they finish off the season with two away series, they will look to end their home schedule on a good note as they take on Ave Maria.

The Buccaneers stand at 14-14 on the season in home games and a win tonight would give them the satisfaction of being able to defend Feinbloom Field more often than not.

To finish on a good note the Bucs will be taking on a Gyrenes team who are also looking at the end of their season.

Ave Maria have some threats at the plate for the Bucs to deal with, namely senior infielder Aaron Pigna who leads the team with .357 batting average off a team-leading 12 doubles, 50 hits and 27 RBI. Senior 1B Nick Sacchetta leads the team with six homeruns, while freshman infielder Ryan Keegan has a team-leading 29 RBI.

On the mound, the Gyrenes could look to junior RHP Austin Munn who has a 1.54 ERA, a 2-1 record and 34 strikeouts. Sophomore RHP Austin Comesanas leads the team with 47 strikeouts and freshman RHP Justin Bureau has a team-leading five saves.

A win here would end the Bucs' home schedule on a positive note and would be a good launching pad for the final weeks of the season. First pitch is slated for 6 pm.
