Baseball Takes On SSC Foe Florida Tech

Bucs aim to spoil Panthers' season

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--After getting back to winning versus Florida Memorial on Tuesday, Barry baseball aims to continue their win streak as they take on SSC opponent, Florida Tech.

The Panthers currently stand at 27-5 and 9-4 in the conference, putting them third in the SSC standings, and the Buccaneers are aiming to scuttle Tech's chances at a conference title.

To do so, the Bucs will be taking on a Tech team that has 11 players batting over .300 and a bullpen with five pitchers with four or more wins on the year.

Most dangerous for the Panthers are junior catcher Austin Allen who has hit a team-leading nine homeruns and 38 RBI on the year, and sophomore infielder Grant McKown, who is second on the team with six homeruns and 36 RBI.

Senior infielder Tyler Doughty is a threat on the run with a team-leading 12 stolen bases this season.

On the mound, the Panthers can call up a number of viable pitchers that have found success this campaign. Senior LHP Scott Ward has a team leading seven wins off 40 strikeouts in 55.0 IP, while senior RHP
Ashton Fronsoe has six wins off of striking out 37 batters in 47.1 IP.

The Bucs could play the role of spoiler in this week's games as they take on Tech in a special Thursday-Friday series with first pitch coming tonight at 6 pm with tomorrow's double-header beginning at 1 pm.
