Kimmy Twelker blanked Esther Santiago and Sara Yousif, 8-0, at No. 3. Ninth-ranked
Ana Pain and
Sonja Larsen beat Mary Jo Nanti and Thaisa Pereira, 8-2, at the top flight to send Barry into singles with a 3-Love lead.
Onila, who owns the No. 3 ranking in the country, recorded her second shutout of the day when she rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Stewart at No. 3 singles. Abanda also didn't surrender a game in blanking Nanti, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1.
Larsen, who is No. 6 in the nation, beat 45th-ranked Santiago, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 2. It was her team-leading fifth win over a ranked opponent this season. Fritschken, ranked 27th, was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Pereira at No. 4. Fritschken, Larsen and Pain all have 14 singles victories this season. Abanda has 13.
Twelker beat Goettsching, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 5 singles.
Jasi Witherspoon defeated Yousif, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 6. It was Witherspoon's 10th win of the season.
Barry hosts No. 5 Saint Leo (15-3) at noon Saturday in the regular season and Sunshine State Conference finale. The Bucs are vying for their second straight outright conference regular season title. Barry is 7-0 in the SSC. Nova Southeastern finished league play with a 7-1 mark. Saint Leo is 5-1 with a match at Rollins Thursday before visiting Miami Shores.
Saturday's match was moved from its original scheduled date of Feb. 21 to March 7, when rain washed out play during singles. A match must be completed within 48 hours of its start time to become official or the match must begin from scratch again.
