MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—Barry baseball continues its season as they take on SSC foe Eckerd in St. Petersburg, FL this weekend in a three game series. The Buccaneers aim to get their first win in four games and will look to get the most out of the series with the Tritons.
Eckerd currently stands at 15-19, and 3-10 in the SSC, right below the Bucs, so this will be a contest of similarly-matched opponents. The Tritons have several players that could be of concern to Barry.
Sophomore infielder Lucas Luopa leads the team with 53 hits in 147 at-bats and runs with 26, as well as leading the team with 17 stolen bases. Junior outfielder Carter Cashman leads the team with 23 RBI and in homeruns with two.
On the mound the Tritons will look to pitchers like senior right-hander Jimmy Gutowski, who has a team-leading 41 strikeouts in 50.0 IP. Junior LHP Taylor Owens leads the team with three saves in 17 appearances.
Getting some good results in the series could be a turning point for the Bucs as they attempt to turn the final part of the 2015 season onto a positive note.
