MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--Barry baseball dropped its first game in Sunshine State Conference play as they fell 13-6 to the #1 Tampa Spartans.

Strong offensive outputs in the first, sixth, and ninth innings sealed the win for the Spartans as they improved to 15-2 on the year.

The Bucs fell to 8-7 but did see some impressive performances by catcher
Greg Brodzinski, who had a team-leading three hits on the day, including 2 two-run homers in the second and seventh innings.

Joeanthony Rivera struck out four in 4.2 innings but was outpitched by Tampa starter Chase Sparkman, who got the win on the mound for the Spartans.Â

Sparkman struck out six in seven innings pitched.

At the plate, the Bucs were still prolific, getting 13 hits on the day and scoring 4 runs in the seventh and eighth innings to make the game interesting but it was not enough.

The Bucs face off against Tampa again tomorrow in a doubleheader starting at 1 pm.Â
