MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.—A trip to Georgia has been no getaway for Barry baseball and their troubles continued Saturday as they fell to Georgia College in a doubleheader, 12-11 and 13-5.
The first game was a shootout as the two teams combined for 23 runs and 25 hits. The Bucs held the lead through the middle of the 7
th inning but in the bottom of the inning, the Bobcats scored off a three-run homerun by Clay Ardesser and that was the deciding factor in the contest.
Seven Bucs got hits in the game with designated hitter
Frank Gonzalez and left-fielder
Jonathan Quintana leading the team with three. Quintana and first-baseman
Greg Brodzinski led the Bucs with three RBI.
Starting pitcher
Luis Deville struck out four in 4.2 IP while
Andy Rohloff got his first loss on the year in 3.1 IP.
In the second game, the Bucs got out to an early lead off a
JC Cardenas RBI single but lost it and the game after Georgia College scored nine runs before the Bucs could respond and the lead proved too much.
The Bucs saw hits from seven players with center fielder Christian Khawley leading the team with three.
Starting pitcher
Daniel Broeseker got his third loss of the year in a 5.0 IP effort.
The sweep puts the Bucs' record at 14-16 while Georgia College stands at 17-13.
Up next for Barry is a home game against local opponent Florida Memorial on March 31 at 6 pm.
