MIAMI SHORES, FL—Coming off a solid midweek win over Adelphi, Barry baseball looks to move up the conference standings as they take on SSC rival Lynn in a three-game series.
The Fighting Knights come into the series 20-5 on the season and sit at second place in the SSC at 4-2. The Knights are currently on an eight game winning streak, last losing on March 7
th versus Florida Tech.
Lynn has a stout lineup which will prove to be a challenge for the Bucs. Senior third-baseman Thomas Kain leads the team with 41 hits and 25 RBI, and junior infielder Matt Tietz leads with four homeruns and is second on the team with 24 RBI off of 35 hits. The Knights have four other batters that have more than 20 hits and six players with more than 10 RBI.
Also a threat on offense is senior outfielder Michaeel Stemle who has a team-leading 15 stolen bases and senior C/1B Alex DeBellies is second on the team with seven.
The rotation and bullpen for the Knights is also a threat to the Bucs. Junior Max Watt leads Lynn with 53 strikeouts in 36 IP and is 5-0 on the season. Senior Travis Connelly has struck out 29 in 38.2 IP and senior Bill Mendek has 23 strikeouts in 21 IP.
The series between the Bucs and Lynn begins tonight at 6 pm, with a doubleheader starting at 1 pm tomorrow rounding it off.
