Baseball Faces Big Test Against Canes

The Bucs travel to Coral Gables to take on ACC power Miami

MIAMI SHORES, Fla—Traveling to a road game in the middle of the week isn't always fun but when facing the University of Miami, it can be.
Buccaneer baseball faces a tough task as they take on the Hurricanes, Wednesday night at Mark Light Field on UM's campus.

The Canes will be the only NCAA division I opponent that the Bucs face this year.

The Bucs have faced Miami 21 times and are still searching for their first win over the ACC power.

The Canes currently sit at 5-2 on the season but are undefeated at home at 4-0.

On their roster, Hurricanes have a formidable presence at the plate with eight players hitting over .300.  Junior outfielder Ricky Eusebio leads his team with a .429 average with nine hits and 11 runs in 13 at-bats. Sophomore catcher Zack Collins leads the Canes in RBI with nine, and freshman outfielder Carl Chester and junior third baseman David Thompson lead the team with 16 total bases.

On the mound Enrique Sosa leads the Hurricane pitchers in era with 1.54 and strikeouts with 13. Closer Cooper Hammond is five for five in his save attempts this season and he is tied for second on the team in strikeouts with six.

Soon the Bucs will begin conference play in the SSC and this game against Miami will be a litmus test to where they are as a team and where they need to go from here on. First pitch is tomorrow at 6 pm.
