Baseball Swept by PBA

A tough pair of the games today led to the Bucs being swept

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--What seemed to be a misnomer turned into a stark realization as Barry Baseball dropped both games of today's doubleheader versus Palm Beach Atlantic 12-9 and 7-2 as they were swept in the series which included a 12-0 loss Friday night.

In today's first game the Bucs gave up 16 hits and had three errors as they allowed the Sailfish to score in five innings and although they were able to get 12 hits of their own, they were only able to conjure up nine runs and left nine men on base.

Right-fielder Jonathan Quintana had a notable day with a team-high four hits and starting pitcher Joeanthony Rivera struck out five in 7.1 innings pitched.

In the second game, the Bucs actually outhit the Sailfish 13-10 but left 13 men-on-base. Shortstop JC Cardenas led the team with four hits, including a ninth inning solo homerun.

Starting pitcher Luis Deville struck out three in five innings pitched and relief pitcher Jesse Montalto had four strikeouts in three innings pitched.

Up next for the Buccaneers is a trip to Coral Gables as they take on the University of Miami Hurricanes, February 25th at 6 pm.
