MIAMI SHORES, Fla.-- Playing one of the premier programs in college baseball did not scare Barry baseball as they matched up well with the University of Miami and fought to a close game before losing 5-3.
The Buccaneers out-hit and fielded better than the Hurricanes and held them scoreless for the last six innings of the game.
Barry pitchers allowed just five hits combined and forced the Canes to leave 11 runners on base.
At the plate the Bucs had seven hits and forced Miami into three errors. They scored runs in the final three innings to make it a two-run game against the defending Atlantic Coast Conference regular season champions before the final out.
Khalil Denson and
JC Cardenas led the team in hits tonight with two, and Cardenas had a solid day at shortstop with four putouts and six assists.
It might be a loss on the schedule but tonight's game proved that the Bucs can play with anyone and they will take that knowledge into the rest of their season which starts with a three-game series against Felician College this weekend with first pitch coming at 6 pm on February 28
