MIAMI SHORES, FL--After last week's sweep of Southern Connecticut State, Barry baseball looks to continue their winning streak as they welcome local opponents Palm Beach Atlantic to Feinbloom Field.
In their prior matchup back on February 10
th, the Bucs earned their first road victory of the season with a 9-4 win over the Sailfish in West Palm Beach.
That night, the Bucs won the game even while committing three errors and allowing as many hits as they had themselves. Seven Bucs got hits on the night withÂ
Khalil Denson leading the team with two.
Fielding-wise it was a notable night forÂ
Jonathan Quintana, who had his first start at first base and shortstopÂ
JC Cardenas who had five assists.Â
Pitching-wise, freshmanÂ
Jonathan Hernandez got his first win as a Buc after striking out three in five innings pitched. Fellow freshmanÂ
Daniel Broeseker got his second save of the year, striking out four and allowing just two hits in four innings pitched.
Then, as is it now, the Sailfish are still looking for their first win of the season after coming off a 9-11 loss to Embry-Riddle on February 17
th.
PBA can still cause the Bucs some problems, however. Senior Andres Vazquez led the team with eight hits, six runs and four RBI. Junior Pat Kane is second with six hits, five runs and two doubles.
On the mound, the Sailfish will look to pitchers like junior Josh Turner. The right-hander has a team leading 12 strikeouts in 11.2 innings pitched. Also a threat, left-handed junior Casey Kopec is second on the team with seven strikeouts in 8.1 innings pitched. Â
First pitch is slated for 6 pm on February 20
th with a doubleheader on the 21
st starting 1 pm.
