MIAMI SHORES, Fla.-- This weekend, Barry baseball faces its biggest challenge of the year as they take on Southern Connecticut State in a three-game series starting with a doubleheader beginning at 1 pm.
  Â
The Bucs are coming off a 9-4 away win over Palm Beach Atlantic this past Tuesday to improve their record to 3-2. The game saw seven Bucs get hits and freshman pitcher
Jonathan Hernandez get his first win at Barry.
Daniel Broeseker also got his second save of the season. Â
This weekend's series will prove a tougher task for the Bucs than their previous games. Last season the Owls won the Northeast-10 Southwest Division with a record of (24-15, 18-9) and were picked to repeat as champions of the division in the NE-10 preseason coaches' poll.
The Owls have 18 players returning including second baseman Nick Baviello and centerfielder Matt Burns, who were both named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Preseason All East Region Team.
Baviello, Burns, and right-hander Mike Yerina, all earned All-Northeast-10 Conference Team honors in 2014 as well.
Barry leads the all-time series versus the Owls with a record of 2-0. The previous meetings were single games in 2008 and 2012.
First pitch for the doubleheader is 1 pm on Saturday and at 1 pm for Sunday's game.
