MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry University men's basketball team beat Rollins, 86-73, Wednesday night to equal its win total from a year ago.
 
The No. 6-ranked Buccaneers (19-2, 10-1 Sunshine State Conference) kept the Tars (7-16, 0-11) winless in league play, while moving within one game of 20 wins for the first time since the 2009-10 season. Barry went 19-9 last year.
 
Yunio Barrueta had 18 points and 14 rebounds for his ninth double-double of the season. He had nine rebounds in the first half, and shot eight of 13 from the field. Arie Williams scored 14 points, and Juan Ferrales had 12 points on four of six three-point shooting. Adrian Gonzalez scored 10 of his 12 points in the first half for the Buccaneers, which shot 53 percent from the floor.

The Bucs built a 15-point lead late in the first half on the heels of a 58.6 percent shooting effort. Barry was 17 of 29 in the first half, including seven of 15 from long range. The Buccaneers led by eight with 3:10 remaining in the first half before going on a 7-0 run in a 1:11 span to take a 44-29 lead.

Williams connected on one of his four triples with 10:12 to play in the game, and Bucs point guard Deric Hill scored 1:15 later to push the lead to 20. Rollins cut it to 74-59 on Sharif Almulla's layup with 6:13 to go, but 1:19 later Williams sank two free throws to push the margin back to 21, and the Bucs kept the Tars at bay. 
 
Hill had 10 of the Bucs' 24 assists to push his season total to 169. Last year he set the school record with 215. Anders Haas scored eight points, and Jevoni Robinson had seven points and six boards. He had two dunks, giving him 17 this season, which represents 37 percent of his made field goals.
 
The Bucs will play at Nova Southeastern 4 p.m. Saturday.
