Box Score 1 MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers dropped the first game of a Sunshine State Conference softball doubleheader to the fifth-ranked Rollins Tars 12-1 in five innings on Sunday, but the second game was washed out prior to becoming official.

Brianna Smith provided the only offense for the Bucs (29-11, 15-5 SSC), hitting her third homer of the season in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Tars (42-2, 19-1 SSC) pounded out 15 hits, including three homers in a five-run fifth inning, to take game one 12-1. Krista Rodden went four-for-four and Jessica Moreland drove in four on a sacrifice fly and a three-run homer. The Tars took advantage of six Buccaneer errors.

Kirsten Frame (12-1) earned the win, holding the Bucs to just two hits and striking out four. Jessica Bevlin (5-1) took the loss in the complete game. Only five of her 12 runs were earned. She walked four and struck out three.

In the second game, the Tars led 5-1 in the top of the fifth when lightning halted the game and heavy rains in the area precluded a re-start, wiping out the contest.

The Bucs travel to Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday, April 20 to face the Sailfish and return to Buccaneer Field on Tuesday, April 26 to face the Northwood (Fla.) Seahawks. The Bucs will recognize their three seniors in between the games of the doubleheader.
