MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry University baseball team (7-7) split a pair of regional games against the Lander Bearcats (9-6) on Saturday afternoon. The Bucs dropped the first game 7-5, and won the second game 5-3.
In the first game, Lander scored five runs in the sixth and a pair in the ninth.
Manny Rodriguez took the loss for Barry, moving to 1-2 on the season. Cory Hopper took his fifth win for Lander.
In the second game, Lander scored once in the sixth and twice in the eighth. Facing the 3-0 deficit, the Bucs scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth to take the win.
Lyndon Coleman scored off a Green walk with the bases loaded. On the ensuing play,
James Young jacked a grand slam to left field scoring Green, Leon, and Holness.
T.J. Mullins took the win for Barry and moves to 2-0 on the season.
Tyler King earned his fourth save. Brandon Miller took his first loss of the season, moving to 5-1.
