BOCA RATON, Fla.—The Barry University baseball team split a pair of afternoon games with the defending national champion Lynn University Knights on Sunday. The Bucs took the first game 6-1, and dropped the second 2-1.
In the first game of the afternoon, the Knights took a one run lead after the first inning. The Bucs got on the board in the second when
Ryan Garcia hit a one-RBI single that scored
Matt Petty.
Lynn would score one more in the sixth while the Bucs would tack on one in the eighth and one in the ninth to take the 6-2 win.
Scott Sexton pitched the entire game, taking the win and moving to 3-5 for the season. Daniel Rouah took the loss for the Knights. He moves to 1-7 on the season.
The second game of the afternoon was a low-scoring affair as the Bucs fell 2-1. The Bucs' sole run came in the sixth when
Nick Shaw hit a lead-off single and came home when
Matt Petty grounded into a double play.
With the series over, the Bucs have wrapped up SSC play for the season. The Bucs will play their final games when the head South to take on the Miami Hurricanes next Friday and Saturday.
