Summary

Biography

Matt is another big piece of our offensive and defensive puzzle. He will most likely bat in the 4-hole and will be our third baseman. You can probably expect another big offensive year out of him. He also had success over the summer and he was in the chase for the batting title in the New England Collegiate Summer Baseball League where he finished 2nd and led the Steeplecats to their deepest playoff run in history.
 
JUNIOR (2010): Lead the team and ranked 6th in the conference in batting average at .379 in his first season at Barry… Ranked fourth on the team in home runs with nine… Belted 55 RBIs, ranked second on the squad… Posted a .486 on base percentage, also ranked second on the team… Added 10 doubles and 10 stolen bases on 12 attempts… Earned 19 multi-hit games and 12 multi-RBI games… Went 4-6 on March 20 against Eckerd with six RBIs, four runs and a homer, extending his batting average to a season-high .412… Totaled five RBIs against Caldwell on March 16 on a 2-4 game with two home runs… Played for the North Adams Steeple Cats over the summer… Batted .340 for the season with 24 RBIs, 16 doubles, and five home runs.
 
PREVIOUS COLLEGE (PASCO-HERNANDO CC): Played for coach Steve Winterling ... Hit .410 for his career ... Jacked 12 home runs, 16 doubles, and 60 RBI ... Stole 20 bases ... Posted a .403 batting average as a sophomore with 54 RBI and 18 extra base hits ... Earned First-Team All-Conference and Second-Team All-State ... Set school record with 81 hits in a single season.

HIGH SCHOOL:  Played for coach Charles Guastella ... Hit .489 as a senior with 4 home runs ... Recorded 45 runs and 55 RBI ... stole 15 bases ... Hit .370 for his career with 9 home runs, 55 doubles, and 170 RBI.
