Box Score MIAMI, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers completed a season sweep of the St. Thomas Bobcats with a 15-4 victory in eight innings in baseball action at Esposito Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Bucs (25-14) jumped out to a big lead early against Bobcat starter Alan Clarke (2-5), scoring four runs in the first three innings.
Keith Barton and
Fausto Faraldo had RBI doubles in a three-run third inning.
The Bucs tacked on four in the fourth inning thanks to some shaky relief work by Angleo Nicolosi. He surrendered only two hits, but walked four and tossed two wild pitches that brought in runs.
Barton closed out the game in the eighth inning with a three run homer, his fifth of the season, which gave the Bucs a 15-3 lead. The Bobcats could muster only one run in the bottom of the inning and the game ended on the NAIA mercy rule.
Mike Davila (3-0) picked up the win in the split game, allowing one run on one hit and one walk in four innings, with one strikeout. Clarke was tagged with the loss, giving up four runs on five hits and a walk in 2.2 innings.
The Bucs travel to Boca Raton, Fla., for a Sunshine State Conference series with the Lynn Knights on Friday, starting at 3:00 pm.
