Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University softball team (28-16, 7-9 SSC) fell to the Florida Tech Panthers (28-17-1, 6-13 SSC) 3-2 earlier tonight in Sunshine State Conference play at Buccaneer Field.

Barry's Elizbeth Bennett and Florida Tech's Kristen Lane retired the batters in order until Krista Latessa snapped the hitless streak in the third for the Buccaneers with a single to left. Florida Tech's Katie Maumoff ended the Panther hitting drought in the fourth with a double to left center.

After five scoreless innings, the Panthers pounded out five hits and scored three runs to lead off the sixth. Barry took advantage of a dropped fly ball by Panther center fielder in the bottom half of the inning and scored two runs to narrow Florida Tech's lead to 3-2. Barry was unable to convert hitting three consecutive flyball outs in the seventh to end the game.

Elizabeth Bennett (23-12) gave up three runs (two earned) and struck out eight in the loss for Barry, while Lane (12-6) gave up two unearned runs and struck out 11 in the win for Florida Tech.

The Buccaneers managed only four hits against the Panther ace, while Courtney Harless led all hitters going 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Both teams close out the three-game conference series on Wednesday, Apr. 21 at 4 pm.
