Box Score MIAMI SHORES, Fla.-–The Barry University baseball knocked off the Knights of Lynn University in a non-conference match-up 8-5 earlier tonight at Feinbloom Field.
The Bucs (28-19) quickly fell behind allowing Lynn (20-24) to score a single run in the first. However, the lead would not last. After being hit by a pitch in the Bucs' first at-bat of the game,
Alex Meneses came around to score Barry's first run when
Fausto Faraldo grounded into a double-play with the bases loaded and
Ricky Sanchez later doubled to left, bringing around
Brian Lima to give the Bucs the early 2-1 lead.
The Buccaneer offense then added one more in the third on an RBI single by Sanchez and three more in the fourth on a Lima sacrifice fly, a wild pitch and a single to left by
Keith Barton to extend their lead to 6-1. Then, in the eighth the Bucs added their final two runs on an RBI single by right-fielder
Jesse Naber and Barton's second RBI base hit of the game.
Chris Casale (3-4) picked up his third win of the season pitching eight innings, striking out five and walking three.
Barton was the Bucs' offensive leader on the night going 3-for-4 with two RBI and Sanchez followed with a 2-for-4, two RBI performance.
Lynn's John Zagaria was the only Knight with a multiple-hit game, going 2-for-4, while Donovan O'Dowd was 1 for 5 with his second homer of the season.
The Bucs return to action on Wednesday when they host Florida Tech at 6:00 pm.
