Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 ORLANDO – In the final day of competition at the Sunshine State Conference Tennis Tournament, the Barry University women's tennis team fell 5-4 to Florida Southern in a third-place match at the Martin Tennis Courts.

The Bucs (13-10) fell behind early on dropping two of three doubles matches with their only win coming in the number one spot where Maria Lopez and Natascha Loebnitz knocked off Rollins (16-5) Laura Salatino and Lidia Gandarias 8-2.

The Bucs and Mocs then split 3-3 in singles action allowing Florida Southern to pick up the win. Picking up points for the Bucs were Greta Trotman at the number two spot 6-1, 6-2, Arabella Martin at number four 6-3, 6-2 and Carole Steinhauser at number five 6-3, 7-5.

The Bucs will close out the regular season with one more match this coming Thursday when they visit Division I Florida Atlantic at 3:00 pm.

Women's Tennis Eliminated From SSC Tourney

ORLANDO -- The Barry University women's tennis team was eliminated from the Sunshine State Conference Tennis Tournament earlier today after falling to host Rollins College 5-2 at the Martin Tennis Courts.

The third-seeded Bucs (13-9) got of to a good start taking two of three doubles matches, winning 8-2 at number 2 behind Greta Trotman and Carole Steinhauser and 8-3 at number three with Arabella Martin and Marie Rojas.

However, in singles action the Tars (15-6) made quick work of the Bucs as they took the number 1, 3, 4 & 6 slots to earn a chance to play for the SSC crown on Sunday.

The Bucs will close out the season with one more match this coming Thursday when they visit Division I Florida Atlantic at 3:00 pm.

Women's Tennis Advances To Semifinals

ORLANDO—The Barry Buccaneers advanced to the semifinals of the Sunshine State Conference women's tennis tournament with a 5-1 win over the University of Tampa on Friday at the Bert Martin Tennis Center at Rollins College.

The third-seeded Bucs (13-8) took two of three doubles, winning 8-1 at number one behind Natascha Loebnitz and Maria Lopez and 8-2 at number two with Greta Trotman and Carole Steinhauser getting the win.

Loebnitz made quick work of Tampa's (8-13) Liz Moulthrop 6-0, 6-1 at the top singles flight, while Trotman defeated Abby Shelide 6-2, 6-1 at number two. Steinhauser closed out the match 6-2, 6-1 over Heather Eli at number five.

The Bucs advance to the semifinals against the winner of the Rollins/Saint Leo match on Saturday at noon.
