Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- The Barry University softball team (28-15, 7-8 SSC) completed a three-game Sunshine State Conference sweep over the Lynn University Fighting Knights (31-17-1, 6-9 SSC) earlier today at Buccaneer Field. The Buccaneers won the front end of the doubleheader 2-0 and the nightcap 9-2.

In the first game, Amanda Moore led off the second innning with a double to left center and later scored on Krista Latessa's RBI single to give Barry a 1-0 advantage. In the sixth, Heather Hodges drove in the Bucs' insurance run lifting Bucs to a 2-0 win.

In the nightcap, Barry's Kim Fujimoto drove in the first of three runs in the first inning as the Buccaneers took an early 3-0 lead. The Knights narrowed the gap to two when Allie Dougherty drove in Lynn's first run of the series, but Hodges drove in her second run of the day with another RBI single to give Barry a 4-1 lead after four innings. In the fifth, Lynn's Kim Casey hit a solo home run to pull the Knights within two runs. However, the Buccaneers took advantage of three Knight errors scoring five runs in the sixth and cruised to a 9-2 win.

Elizabeth Bennett (23-11) picked up the win in both games allowing only two runs (one earned) on eight hits through 14 innings while striking out 12. Aimee Murch (19-7) gave up two runs and struck out eight in the loss for Lynn in game one, while Kelly Gardner (9-9) gave up nine runs (five earned) on 11 hits and struck out four in Lynn's loss in game two.

Moore went 4 for 5 with a double and an RBI to lead Barry at the plate, while Fujimoto finished 4 for 6 with two RBI. Hodges added two RBI and a stolen base for Barry. Christina Rolla went 3 for 7 with a double to lead all Lynn hitters.

The Buccaneers will return to action on Tuesday, Apr. 20 hosting Florida Tech at Buccaneer Field at 7 pm.
