Box Score MIAMI SHORES – The Barry University baseball team got back to their winning ways earlier tonight, slaying the Lions of Florida Memorial College 7-1 at Feinbloom Field.
The Bucs (20-10, 4-5 SSC) jumped out in front early on scoring single runs in both the bottom of the first and second innings. In the first
Keith Barton stroked a RBI double down the right-field line plating
Danny Aguiar from second base. Aguiar had reached earlier in the inning on a walk. Then in the second the Bucs took advantage of some shaky Lions (14-15) defense as
Carlos de la Osa, who reached base with a two-out double, came around to score on a throwing error by the second-baseman.
The Bucs then added another run in the fourth when
Fausto Faraldo led off the inning with a walk, was sacrificed over to second, stole third and came around to score when the Lions catcher Enrie Beaz's throw went into leftfield.
Barry then added two insurance runs in both the seventh and eighth innings. In the seventh
Cesar Aranguren drove a two-run double to the leftfield gap and in the eight, Faraldo and
Jerry Thornton each knocked in runs with singles to right-field.
Michael Davila earned the win on the mound for the Bucs throwing three innings of relief allowing just one earned run, while striking out two. The win was his second of the season. Lion's starter Jose Reyes picked up the loss and his record drops to 6-4.
Aranguren was the Bucs top hitter on the night going 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's.
The Bucs return to action this weekend when they visit the University of Tampa for a three-game set.
