Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ORLANDO, Fla. – The Barry University women's tennis team split a pair of tennis matches in Orlando earlier today falling to the 11th-ranked Valdosta State Blazers and defeating Grand Valley State 5-2.

Defaulting at number three doubles and six singles, the Buccaneers nearly pulled out a nice victory over the Blazers to start the day, but fell just short falling 5-4. Natascha Loebnitz and Maria Lopez teamed up to win at the top doubles flight 9-7 upsetting the ninth-ranked team of Iris Staub and Eva Petschnig, while Greta Trotman and Carole Steinhauser were able to knock off Annika Biro and Marina Galey 8-7 at the number two slot.

With four of the five singles flights going three sets, the Bucs were only able to take the top two with Loebnitz downing ninth-ranked Petschnig 2-6, 6-3, 6-1 and Trotman defeating Natalie Drabova 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. The Bucs fell in the bottom three flights.

In the nightcap match, the Bucs rebounded with a 5-2 win over Grand Valley State. Loebnitz and Lopez took the top doubles flight 8-0 over Grand Valley's Alison Koopsen and Aubrey Lehrmann team, while Trotman and Steinhauser topped the Zanobia Syed/Marie Cameron team 8-1.

Loebnitz won the top singles flight with a 6-0, 6-0 win, while Lopez and Arabella Martin won at number three and four singles. The number two and five slots were scheduled, but not played.

The Buccaneers return to the Buccaneer Tennis Complex to host Richmond at 3 pm on Mar. 10.
