Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers vaulted back into the Sunshine State Conference men's basketball race with a 77-64 win over the Lynn Knights Wednesday night at the de Hoernle Center.

The defensive-minded Bucs, who lead the conference in scoring defense at 57.2 points per game, scored a season-high 77 points in knocking off the Knights in Boca Raton for the fourth year in a row.

The Knights (12-9, 5-4 SSC) led 10-7 after the first five minutes. But Barry (12-9, 5-4 SSC) bounced back with a 13-3 run to build a seven-point lead over the next five minutes. Clifford Smith hit a pair of three-pointers to pace the run. The Bucs led 35-25 at the half.

In the second half, Lynn closed to 47-40 on a layup by Justin Wingard with 11:43 left in the game. But Barry quickly rebuilt a double-figure lead and maintained it the rest of the game. Barry's biggest lead came at 67-49 on a Ryan Saunders jumper with 3:34 remaining.

Clifford Smith led all scorers with 20 points, including 13 in the pivotal first half. Andres Alfonso and Nick Ellingsworth-Perez each chipped in 17 points and Saunders had 13 as the Bucs placed four in double figures for the first time this season since scoring 73 against Florida Atlantic. Wingard led Lynn with 18 and James Taylor had 15.

The Bucs host Florida Southern on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 2:00 pm in the Health & Sports Center.
